"The History Maker," Hall of Fame Original Florida Highwaymen Artist Isaac knight was born in 1941 and died Thursday morning, February 17, 2022, at age 80. Isaac succumbs to his battle with diabetes and a series of illnesses in Fort Pierce, Florida. Condolences to his wife, Lillie Knight, and his family. He inspired many and will truly be missed by friends and family. Isaac Knight is a legend, an icon on the Highwaymen Heritage Trail in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Florida Highwaymen 2nd Generation AJ Brown remembers Isaac as a mild-mannered friend who enjoyed making light jokes. During her 17-year Highwaymen history, AJ recalls attending numerous art shows with Isaac and other group colleagues. His humor kept her smiling, fond memories she would not soon forget. Isaac loved painting movements; swaying palm trees and ocean breezes reminded AJ of old Florida.
Isaac's paintings offered a nostalgic feeling, his spirit connected with the higher power, and you wanted to own his history.
Al Black and Isaac were brothers-in-law; Isaac shared a mutual respect with all his colleagues. In 2009, AJ Brown and Lillie knight became friends when they were elected to serve as members on the By-Laws Committee for the first historical 501(c)3 Highwaymen organization. The goal was to open the first Highwaymen Art Museum in Fort Pierce, Florida.
Isaac's art studio was his home garage and where AJ would find him on occasional visits. From a Highwaywoman's point of view, Isaac was a humbled soul, reserved, and always respectful of her as a female and her career as a 2nd Generation Highwaymen artist.
Isaac was a dedicated family man; he also invested significant time in his work; reminiscent of the 1960s, his paintings were highly collected.
Isaac Knight helped make Highwaymen's history what it is today; he is a part of America's history!
