Hall of Fame Original Florida Highwaymen
Fort Pierce, Florida, A Legend of the Road!

"The History Maker,"  Hall of Fame Original Florida Highwaymen Charles Walker is a Fort Pierce, Florida native.  Walker was born in 1945; he died of cancer on May 24, 2022, at 77 in St Lucie County.  Condolences to his wife, Gertrude Walker, Supervisor of Elections, and his family.  He inspired many and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.  Charles Walker is a legend, an icon on the Highwaymen Heritage Trail in Fort Pierce, Florida.

Florida Highwaymen 2nd Generation AJ Brown fondly remembers Charles as a quiet spirit.  A colleague with confidence in his craft and mutual respect for his colleagues, as with original Highwaymen Johnny Daniels.  The Florida Highwaymen wildlife legendary artists Charles Walker, Johnny Daniels, and Robert Butler shared a passion for painting wildlife scenes and a connection of higher respect for God, family, and people.

During her 17-year history, AJ Brown recalls attending numerous art shows and events with the "Original and 2nd Generation Highwaymen artists."  In 2009, Gertrude Walker and AJ Brown became associates when they were elected to serve as members on the By-Laws Committee of the first historical 501(c)3 Highwaymen organization.  The goal was to open the first Highwaymen Art Museum in Fort Pierce, Florida.

From a Highwaywoman's point of view, AJ Brown recalls that Highwaymen Charles and Johnny were humbled, reserved, and always presented the utmost respect for her as a female and for her career as a 2nd Generation Highwaymen colleague.

Charles dedicated his life to Highwaymen art; he invested significant time and patience in his works of art.  His paintings were refined as photographs, and his wildlife scenes were his most adoring treasures.  Charles usually sold his timeless collection from his business or home gallery instead of the road, as many Highwaymen did.  However, in his later years, he remained close to home.

Charles Walker helped make Highwaymen's history what it is today; he is a part of America's history!  Walker's final resting place is Riverview Memorial Park in Fort Pierce, Florida.
